Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has assured that the Kirtipur Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu will be equipped with a parapet and floodlights within the stipulated deadline. Taking to social media on Friday, the Prime Minister stated that the Council of Ministers had decided to expedite the project.
PM Oli emphasized that the work will progress in "three shifts" to ensure timely completion and transform the stadium into a well-equipped sports facility. "Cricket is the lifeblood of the youth in our society. In the first cabinet meeting since the formation of the government, we decided to build a parapet and install floodlights at the Kirtipur Cricket Stadium," he noted.
The Prime Minister also revealed that a tender for the parapet and floodlight construction was issued on Friday. He mentioned discussions with national cricket players, including former captain Paras Khadka, during the planning phase.
Acknowledging delays caused by technical design issues and land acquisition complications, PM Oli reassured that the stadium will be a world-class facility. The Cricket Association of Nepal’s office-bearers have suggested focusing on achieving international standards rather than rushing the process.
PM Oli called for cooperation and vigilance from all stakeholders to ensure the timely and high-quality completion of the project. The development is expected to enhance Nepal's cricket infrastructure and meet the aspirations of cricket enthusiasts across the country.
